Developers have always bragged. The problem is that managers can’t tell good code from bad, or simply don’t care.
Encouraging bragging is a weird flip in professional morals. I find developers who brag about how great their code is to be tedious and generally difficult to work with. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s pretty common for lower quality engineers to brag more than higher quality engineers as a means of compensating for their lack in technical skill. Bad advice all around.
